WSET Awards of Excellence - Advanced 2011 Winners

Level 3 Advanced Certificate in Wines and Spirits Scholarships

The top students who have achieved either a Pass with Distinction or Pass with Merit are invited to the Advanced Certificate Scholarship Competition which takes place every November. They are required to verbally answer questions on 9 different wine/spirit regions as well as a blind tasting.

The Julian Brind Memorial Scholarship
Sponsored by the WSET and named in memory of one the Trust's past Chairman. A bursay for a study trip to a wine/spirit - producing region, provided by the WSET.

	The Vintners' Bursaries Three bursaries, sponsored by The Vintners' Company, used towards the cost of a foreign study tour. Winners: Ella Lister (Octavian), Alexander Howard (Fine & Rare) & Nicolas Tynan (Majestic) Presented by: Michael Cox (Upper Warden of the Vintners' Company.)
	The Conseil Interprofessional du Vin de Bordeaux Scholarship A 3 day Grands Crus course at the Bordeaux Wine School. Winners: Stephen Lacey (Adnams), Alan Judes (Wine for Drinking), Ravi Dhingra and Isak Broe
	The Gonzalez Byass Scholarship A study tour to the Douro as a guest of Gonzalez Byass Winner: Tim Bayley (Direct Wines) Presented by: Martin Skelton (Gonzalez Byass)
	The Champagne Academy Scholarship A place on the Champagne Academy study course. Winner: Robert Wade (De Wintons) Presented by: Ron Philips (Champagne Academy)
	The Porter & Laker Prize £850 contribution towards fees for candidate intending to enrol on WSET Diploma course plus memership to The Benevolent. Winner: Diego Muntoni (Oxo Tower Restaurant) Presented by: Chris Porter (Porter & Laker) and Paul Newman (The Benevolent)
	The Incorporation of Coopers of Glasgow Scholarship A visit to a cooperage in Glasgow and a whisky tasting session. Winner: Arnaud Rubin (Direct Wines) Presented by: Scott-Anthony Lythe
	The Rhône Prize A silver-plated wine cooler, held by the winner for a year, and a case of Rhône wines selected by Hallgarten Wines. Winner: James Edensor (Majestic) Presented by: Jim Wilson (Hallgarten Druitt)
	Decanter Magazine Prizes One year's subscription to Decanter magazine and an invitation to the Fine Wine Experience. Winners: Jeremy Mills & Stuart Martin (non-trade) Presented by: Sarah Kemp (Decanter)
	The Gran Orden de Caballeros Scholarship Honorary membership of the Gran Orden de Caballeros and a study trip to Spain Winner: Nicholas Jackson Presented by: German Carvillo (GOVC)
	The Wine Australia Scholarships The top Level 3 students for China, India/Singapore. Korean/Japan and Australia apply for a study trip with Wine Australia Winners: Jie Eun Lee- NE Asia, Hui Liu - Mainland China, Nikhil Agarwal - SE Asia
