The Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) has announced the launch of two new Italian-language qualifications. WSET will be hosting a stand at Vinitaly 2017 to promote the new qualifications as well as running a full programme of tasting sessions across the four days of Vinitaly to showcase the range of WSET courses.

Vinitaly 2017 will mark the official release of the new Italian-language WSET Level 1 Award in Sake and Level 2 Award in Wines and Spirits. WSET saw a 78% increase in candidate numbers from Italy in the academic year 2015/16, and has launched the new Italian-language qualifications to meet rising demand and open the courses up to non-English speakers in the region.

WSET Level 2 Award in Wines and Spirits is now available in Italian at WSET Approved Programme Providers including Accademiavino, Accademiavino Roma, Alessandra Fedi, Wine Academy Italia, WineMe, Veni, Vidi, Vini, and Italian Wine Academy in Italy and abc L'école du vin Sàrl in Switzerland. La Via del Sake in Milan now runs the Level 1 Award in Sake in Italian.

From the beginner Level 1 Awards in Wine, Spirits and Sake to the specialist Level 4 Diploma in Wine and Spirits, visitors can head to the WSET stand at Vinitaly 2017 to learn more about the courses and how they can help them progress in the industry. WSET will be hosting 14 tasting sessions throughout the show on topics such as varietal masterclasses, an exploration of Chilean wine styles, food and wine pairing, and an introduction to sake in partnership with La Via del Sake as a taster of the new course.

As well as tasting sessions at the WSET stand, WSET will also deliver a 45 minute masterclass in the Vininternational Hall's central tasting room at 15.15 on Sunday 9th April. The seminar 'Same grape, different wine: Chenin Blanc' will explore the diversity of this grape variety through four unique samples. Tickets for the WSET masterclass on 9th April are available on the Vinitaly website.
