Panel talk and Q&A

Following on from the roaring success of the ‘Industry Matters’ stage at Imbibe Live 2019, Imbibe is partnering with WSET School London to provide year-round opportunities for the drinks industry to get together and discuss the burning hot topics of today.

Hosted here at WSET School London, our first talk will focus on the topic that was on everyone’s lips at this year’s Imbibe Live – sustainability.

There has been a lot of chat over the last few years about sustainability within all areas of the drinks industry and beyond. The realisation is finally dawning that we must all do more, faster, to safeguard the future of the world we live in, the people working in our industry, and to give our increasingly eco-conscious customers what they both want and deserve.

Taking the form of a panel talk and Q&A, we’ll be chatting to industry figures who’ve been making real strides to improve sustainability in their sector. We’ll ask them what impacts their efforts are making on all sides of their business, and what you can do, too.

Who’s it for?

  • Anyone with an interest in working more sustainably
  • Those looking to share ideas and learn from organisations who have successfully built a sustainability strategy
  • Budding entrepreneurs keen to understand how to prioritise sustainability from day one

We’ll discuss all aspects of the term ‘sustainability’, ask you what it means to you and your business, and, most importantly, give you the chance to ask the leaders in their field anything you like.

The Panel

Mark Low, Creative Lead, Mr Lyan Studio

Mr Lyan Studio is the consultancy arm of the greater Mr Lyan family - the group behind Cub, London's award-winning cocktail restaurant which  explores how sustainability can be luxurious, inventive and comforting.

Mr Lyan Studio works with various partners and brands separately from their venues to create engaging and insightful projects both inside and outside of the drinks world. With a focus on innovation and pioneering drinks, they offer drinks and menu creation, bar space design, new product development, experiences, consumer events, insights and strategy.

Working through the ranks of world-class venues in Edinburgh, from a temporary bar back, to manager of The Lucky Liquor Co., Mark is now Creative Lead at Mr Lyan Studio. He brings his skill of pulling unconventional concepts and unusual flavours together to create spectacular drinks for clients, helping to bring their concepts to life.

Mark Roberts, Director of Sales, Lanchester Wines

Lanchester Wines is a sustainable wine business who invest heavily in the generation of renewable energy at their County Durham headquarters. They strive to be the greenest wine company in the world and make a conscious effort to ensure all of their operations are as environmentally friendly as possible.

Mark is central to the progression of Lanchester Wines’ award-winning environmental sustainability programme. Working with other businesses within the Lanchester Group, Mark has developed Lanchester Wines’ environmental sustainability programme to align with the evolving requirements of the business’ various customer groups. This has involved audits of producers to witness their methods of sustainability, specifically how they affect change in their vineyards and wineries.
