SET's flagship Diploma arms you with specialist-level skills, knowledge and recognition as an expert in the field of wines. The course not only develops advanced product knowledge but will also develop your research and analysis abilities, which will continue to be of great value to you in the future.
All our classes are delivered by highly qualified educators, many of whom are MWs, and all of whom are subject-matter experts. You'll learn alongside like-minded individuals in a discussion-led setting, with all theory underpinned by tastings of an extensive variety of still, sparkling and fortified wines from all over the world.
- Where: Online via WSET’s Online Classroom, with additional in-person tasting tutorials and exams in Belfast
- Study times: >15 hours of study per week recommended. There are no set times to log in (self-paced study) but you will be given weekly activities to complete including group assignments, discussions and quizzes.
- Attendance:
- Semester One: 22 weeks of online guided study, three tasting days, three exam days
- Intensity: A more flexible option as study can be completed around other commitments, but with additional emphasis on in-person tasting
- Minimum completion time: Approx. 20 months
- Samples: In-class wine samples are included
- Who: Those who need a more flexible study option, and students wanting more in-person interaction without regular travel to WSET School London.

Eligibility requirements
This course is only available to those who have passed the WSET Level 3 Award in Wines (previously known as the WSET Level 3 Award in Wines and Spirits or WSET Advanced Certificate). We do not accept any other previous learning for enrolment on this course.
Please be sure that you hold this qualification before you book, as failure to meet these requirements may result in loss of booking and an administrative cancellation fee.
Study materials
All study materials for the WSET Level 4 Diploma in Wines are digital only, meaning you can take them with you wherever you go on your phone, laptop or tablet. You will receive access to your online course materials at least one month prior to the course start date.
English language skills
While many people successfully complete the Diploma in their second or third language, a strong grasp of written English is required for this course - assessment for the Diploma requires an ability to write long- and short-form answers.
Students whose first language is not English are recommended to have an IELTS score of 6.5 or above or be able to demonstrate an equivalent ability level. If you have any concerns about your English language skills, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
