Masterclass 2: Cuvaison with Dan Zeponni of Two Estates Wine Collective

08:15 - 09:30 PM

Los Carneros, the coolest of Napa Valley’s 16 nested AVAs, receives a double dose of cold air both from the San Pablo Bay (the northern reaches of the San Francisco Bay) and Sonoma’s Petaluma Gap. Together, these two cooling influences regularly shroud Carneros in fog and wind, moderating Napa Valley’s often warm temperatures and creating the conditions for cool-climate varieties such as Pinot Noir and Chardonnay to thrive. However, Carneros is not limited to these two varieties.

More and more, growers are planting typically warmer climate varieties such as Merlot, Cabernet Franc and even Cabernet Sauvignon to produce cool-climate expressions of Napa Valley’s signature red grape varieties.

Join Dan Zepponi, President and CEO, for a deep dive into the clay soils, cool climate and evolving history of Los Carneros through a tasting of five estate wines.

About Cuvaison

Founded in 1969, Cuvaison is one of the pioneering wineries that helped shape the modern era of Napa Valley winemaking. As an independent, family-owned winery for over five decades, they are dedicated to crafting exceptional wines from their acclaimed estate in the Los Carneros region of Napa Valley.
