Plunge into the world of Greek wine with oenologist Sofia Prepera.
Event details
Have you tasted German Sekt before?
The country's sparkling wine scene has so much to offer – from traditional method to tank, dry to sweet, Riesling to Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
To help you explore the styles, sparkling wine specialist Shane Jones DipWSET has carefully curated a flight of eight incredible German Sekts for you to try at this unique tasting.
Shane will guide you through the various production methods, laws, labelling terms and share tips on the best vintages to look out for. This tasting will shine a spotlight on wines made by leading producers, including those from the prestigious VDP.
You’ll also enjoy some German cheese and charcuterie to pair with the bubbles.
Greece is both one of the oldest and newest winemaking nations. While Bacchus was being worshipped more than two millennia ago, it is only in the past few decades that the Greek wine industry has reinvented itself to adapt to an increasingly competitive global market.
During this tasting, you'll explore the indigenous grape varieties of Greece, including Assyrtiko and Xinomavro, exploring the country’s rich viticultural heritage through a curated selection of wines from some of its most important winemaking regions.
The presentation will combine historical references with current production data and market insights, offering a comprehensive perspective on the evolution and contemporary relevance of Greek wine.
Enjoy the wines alongside a selection of Greek snacks/olives provided by Oliveology in Borough Market.
