Choosing wine in a restaurant can be an exciting part of the experience, or can be completely terrifying. Here at WSET we truly believe that choosing and enjoying wine in a restaurant should be fun. In this session we’ll be concentrating on some simple steps to build confidence and make it easier to select the best wine for you when you go out for dinner. We’ll discuss budget, food and wine pairing, wine etiquette, wine lists, and choosing wine for a celebration, alongside providing an insight to the role of a sommelier and how to make the most of their expertise.

This webinar is free to attend and open to anyone, no prior wine knowledge is needed. The new series of bitesize 30-minute webinars are ideal for beginners looking to learn more about wine.

Nathaniel Morales MIH, Senior Sommelier, Shangri-La at The Shard London

Nathaniel currently works at Shangri-La at the Shard London, the No. 1 City hotel in London for three consecutive years by Travel + Leisure World’s Best Awards 2022. Two times “Employee of the Month” for Front of the House & “Trainer of the Month”. For the past 11 years in Shangri-La Group, he has gained memorable experiences and achievements in terms of bar, restaurant operations and guest relations, alongside receiving many awards related to guest satisfactions within the company. Nathaniel is also a Member of the Institute of Hospitality (MIH).

 

Rachel Webster DipWSET, Business Development Director, WSET

Since joining WSET in 2012, Rachel has been instrumental in extending our network of course providers across the Americas and EMEA regions. She now holds a pivotal role on the WSET Leadership Team as Business Development Director for the EMEA region. She is passionate about developing the accessibility of all our qualifications in terms of reach, language and inclusivity and ensuring that all students receive empowering, world-class wine, spirits and sake education. Rachel speaks Spanish and Italian and prior to WSET worked in the drinks retail industry. She holds the WSET Level 4 Diploma, the WSET Level 3 Award in Sake, and is a WSET Certified Educator. She is also a Cicerone Certified Beer Server.
