Approved Programme Providers

WSET® works with an extensive global network of course providers, known as Approved Programme Providers (APPs). These are organisations that have been granted approval to offer WSET course programmes and exams. APPs are our partners in our mission to empower people through inspiring learning experiences, all over the world.

All APPs undergo a rigorous approval and monitoring process to ensure they meet the high standards expected, both to teach our course programmes and to administer exams in accordance with WSET® policy.

APPs are approved to run in-person courses in one territory only (a territory normally means a country). If you would like to run courses in another territory, you will typically need to apply for another APP. We do not give APPs exclusive rights to offer our qualification courses in a particular territory, or region within that territory, nor do we set any limits on the number of APPs within a region.

WSET can only support a limited number of applicants through the APP application process at any one time. Please note that a working level of English is needed for clear communication with WSET.

Checklist for potential Approved Programme Providers

Throughout the process of applying for APP status, you will be asked to demonstrate that you can satisfy minimum criteria regarding education and course delivery standards, commercial planning and staffing, course and exam administration, compliance with applicable local laws and regulations, and WSET policies and procedures. Some of the information you will be asked to provide includes:

  • A business plan including business proposal and cost model
  • Staff planning, including at least one English-speaking member of staff
  • Completion of our Educator Training Programme
  • Appropriate venues for course delivery and examination
  • APP policies and procedures that complement WSET’s policies and procedures
  • Compliance with all applicable local laws and regulations
