Brand ambassador

Brand Ambassador

A brand ambassador serves as the face of a wine, spirits, beer or sake brand. You will host trade tastings, consumer events, masterclasses and press events in a bid to boost awareness of the brand’s credentials.

Responsibilities

A brand ambassador will also typically act as the brand’s spokesperson in the media. Training bar staff, sommeliers and retail workers is another common responsibility. You may be asked to support marketing campaigns and launches, while working with the brand manager and the sales team to boost market share. You can also expect to travel frequently, while building and maintaining relationships across the trade.

Skills and Development

Many successful spirits careers culminate with a role as a brand ambassador. This profession requires charisma, energy, confidence, communication and a clear passion for the product. Exceptional public speaking and storytelling skills are vital. You’ll also need a deep product knowledge. Professional qualifications can help, as you will be able to explain your brand within the context of the wider category.

Highly-rated bartenders and sommeliers often become brand ambassadors. The role can also suit salespeople with deep product knowledge, along with educators that can present confidently.
