Other commercial careers

We have covered the most common commercial roles. However, there are lots of additional careers to explore:

Writer, influencer or content creator:

Promoting wine, spirits, beer or sakes via social media, blogs, podcasts, magazines and so on.

Educator:

This is one of the most important jobs in wine and spirits. Educators run courses, workshops, tastings or internal training sessions.

Sustainability lead:

Overseeing a company’s environmental or sustainability initiatives, from packaging and sourcing to carbon footprint reduction.

Business development manager:

Identifying new commercial opportunities and boosting sales.

Logistics and operations roles:

Managing the supply chain, covering stock movement, warehousing, imports and exports and ordering systems.

Partnerships manager:

Building strategic partnerships with venues, events, festivals, influencers, or other brands to increase visibility and sales.

Meanwhile, many roles combine several responsibilities, especially at smaller companies. For example, it’s reasonably common to see titles like Sales & Marketing Manager or Brand & Events Lead. The drinks industry offers lots of non-linear career paths, as many skills are interchangeable. Check out our jobs board for the latest roles.
