Wine, spirits, beer and sake production can encompass several other jobs too. Here are some examples of common careers in the drinks industry:
Lab technician:
This role provides winemakers with technical support. Laboratory technicians run wine samples through the lab, test ingredients and work on the wine press.
Grape picker:
A seasonal role, which simply requires you to pick grapes from vines during the harvest.
Tractor operator:
Loading, controlling and driving tractors at a winery, a distillery, a brewery or a warehouse.
Tour host:
Tourism is a key source of revenue for certain wineries and distilleries, and they employ passionate, knowledgeable hosts to run these tours.
Some of these roles can cross over. For example, a winery worker might serve as a tour host, a grape picker or a tractor operator. An entry-level job can quickly lead to a more senior role too if you’re keen and hardworking. Check out our jobs board for the latest roles.
