Reasonable Adjustments and Special Considerations For Remote Invigilation

This page provides information regarding the application of reasonable adjustments and special considerations surrounding WSET RI exams. Please reach out to your Approved Programme Provider for more information.

Reasonable Adjustments

A Reasonable Adjustment (RA) can be made to an exam if you require additional assistance because of a disability or difficulty which places you at a substantial disadvantage in the assessment situation. Reach out to your Approved Programme Provider to submit a Reasonable Adjustment Application to WSET before you are enrolled in your exam.

For WSET RI exams, RAs can look like:

  • Extra time.
  • Use of a Software Reader.
  • Approval for a person to aid you during exam set-up.
  • Approval for use of hearing aids (WSET needs to confirm that regular headphones are not in use for the exam).

Special Considerations

A Special Consideration (SC) is an appeal made by you and your Approved Programme Provider for an event out of your control which prevented you from taking the exam. If approved, WSET may offer a free re-sit or reduced re-sit fee for your next exam. Reach out to your Approved Programme Provider to submit a Special Consideration Application to WSET with supporting documentation at maximum 7 working days post exam date for an SC to be considered.

For WSET RI Exams, here are some examples of covered SCs:

  • Major storm which disabled internet coverage.
  • Bereavement.
  • Hospitalization.
